Bed & breakfast - Chambre d'hôtes
Welcome to Chateau La Fragne!
As soon as you turn onto the drive of the Chateau, you will be suitably impressed with the grandeur of the flags, the fairytale tree roofs and the towers of the chateau looming up in the background. The family is always there to welcome you and assist you with your luggage. After your host has given you a little tour and showed you to your room, an aperitif will be served on the terrace of the Chateau. This terrace with the beautiful umbrella tree is also the setting for our delicious 4-course dinners. Welcome!
The magnificent 352-year-old building is restored in impeccable taste and with much respect for its history; unique combinations bridging the gap between antique and modern. Lots of art is made by the lady of the house, and parts of the original decorative paintings in the staircases are still present. Meters upon meters of curtains emphasize the lofty ceiling heights.
5 rooms in our castle
5 very different rooms, each including their own little story. 3 of the rooms are family rooms, 4 beds, all of them with their own bathroom and shower and one including a bath. The atmosphere is warm and inviting; the decorations a feast for the eye. If you click on the button below, you can “visit” all of them. Because we only have 5 rooms, the atmosphere is very personal. More than once La Fragne has been the setting of guests meeting other guests and spending hours at the fire place chatting away into the evening.

The Hunt room
The Chateau has an amazing room where in the days of old the gentlemen would smoke their cigars after dinner or discuss the afternoon’s hunting. We have maintained the grandeur of this room stylistically and added modern conveniences, including a television. This rooms is also a very pleasant place to retreat to and read a good book in one of the lounges.
Philippe Starck at the Pool
The feeling experienced when reclining at the pool is one of relaxation and indulgence. The enclosed area is surrounded by beautiful trees, plants, lavender, grapes and roses and is wonderfully sheltered from the wind. The pool is 12 meters long and outfitted with a salt system which is much softer than chlorine. The 15-meter lounge couch is hand-crafted oak. On the terrace under the awning the couches and chairs of Philippe Starck showcase a modern look with a classic wink. When you tip toe up and look over the hedge, in the far distance you will find the main tower of the castle. This amazing place is outfitted with a bar and Teppanyaki plate where the chef can prepare the most amazing dishes in front of your eyes. Even a toilet is conveniently located nearby in a cute little “birdhouse”. Paradise!

The Chateau gardens
Walking through the chateau gardens is a discovery tour in itself. Everywhere you look there is something to see. Whether you just came across an ancient rusted gate opening up to a beautiful tree-lined path, or happening across beautiful statues or you are being intrigued by the “owl nests” on top of old trees, there is always something to see. You can even explore the property next door, where the old house that has been uninhabited for 50 years has been transformed into a quaint museum!

The Chateau kitchen
Almost every night we prepare dinner for our guests. Ingredients sourced from local producers or the chateau garden are carefully selected to contribute to 3 or 4 course dinners. For the kids we make special meals so that they can play afterwards in the gardens or with our lovely animals. The months of July and August we suggest our guests visit Segur le Chateau on Mondays - an amazing little village where they organize village BBQ’s. A unique and typically French experience!
The Chateau Animals
The Chateau wouldn’t be the same without our animals, and they each place their own little stamp on the property. We like to respect our furry and feathered friends both great and small, therefore “liberty” is a key word at the Chateau. The 4 dogs can run around to their liking, the horses are trained with natural horsemanship, the rabbit just had babies and can’t decide whether to live with the horses or the donkeys, the cat is keeping a close eye on the nesting birds and Tommy the parrot greets all the guests on their way to the terrace. As you will see, the Chateau just wouldn’t be the same without these special creatures.

Art
When you go on your discovery tour through the castle, you will find quite a few display cabinets carefully outfitted with one of a kind hand-made ceramics or heads. Lots of the paintings decorating the rooms and the restaurant have been made by the lady of the house.
